SEM ProTherm Thermal Insulating Coatings

SEM ProTherm is a series of sprayable and brushable thermal insulating coatings. With additional properties as acoustic insulation, Safe-Touch, fire retardancy, high-heat applications and/or corrosion passivation, you can always find the suitable thermal insulating coating for your situation.

Properties

Especially with the sol-gel nanotechnology basis, these thermal insulating coatings are here to stay. Long lasting lifetime cycles of more than 15 years outdoors. Life-long expectancy indoors. Because of the ability to insulate with a very thin layer of coating, the SEM® ProTherm coatings offer space saving and cost reducing at a high degree of insulation. Consequently, with an U-value at 4,15 W/(m²K) at 10 mm, or a lambda (λ)-value at 0,056 W/(mK), it keeps heat and cold in place. Different from traditional insulating coatings and aerogel based coatings, SEM ProTherm coatings are water-repelling and can operate in under water situations. Overall, they are UV-resistant.

Cost cutting

SEM ProTherm series of nanotech thermal insulation coatings are capable of withstanding harsh (outdoor, chemical, marine, monsoon, desert) environments and are simple to apply. Hence, these coatings greatly reduce the maintenance and replacement costs over time due to their long life, their corrosion passivating capacities and the potential for visual inspection of your assets, as pipes and tubes do no longer hide behind cladding. But first of all, they reduce your energy related costs.

SEM ProTect Sealants

SEM ProTect series of sealants offer a variety of surface technologies designed to protect or enhance materials.Together with our manufacturers and our branches we work on products and development of hands-on micro- and nanotechniques. The SEM ProTect coatings are top class in the areas of abrasion protection, anti-stick, dirt and moist repellance, colour restoration, gloss protection, UV protection and corrosion passivation. Also protection of electrical equipment operating in extreme and demanding environments is included.

A solution for each surface

SEM Sol-gel based coatings show excellent chemical bonding and performance on basically every material. Each variant is made for a specific job and/or a specific material. For instance for extremely dense and slippery surfaces like HDPE and other synthetics. Stainless steel. Glass. Fabric. SEM ProTect will keep performing for many years, even decades, on surfaces and materials of your choice.

Cost cutting

SEM ProTect series of sealants are capable of withstanding harsh (subzero, chemical, marine, monsoon, desert) environments and are fairly easy to apply. This means these coatings greatly reduce the maintenance and replacement costs of your assets over time due to their long lifetime cycles.

SEM Nano Corrosion Passivator

Corrosion passivation means that you stop the corrosion process and make metals immune for the usual influences that revamp corrosion.

Corrosion passivation fluid works through the chelation process. Here, particles form a bond with the iron behind the rust (if present). It pulls specifically the loose iron oxide apart from the surface. These nano particles form a flexible barrier on and inside the capillar and intermolecular structure of the metal surface. The formulation passivates the metal corrosion process.

The corrosion passivating cold alloy paint has a sol-gel base formula. Suitable for either new or blasted metal, or metal with already present (heavy) corrosion. The particles bond chemically with the metal surface. It adds a cold alloy that can only be removed through rupture. SEM Nano Corrosion Passivator Paint withstands welding temperatures.

The chelate technique used in SEM Nano Corrosion Passivator Fluid lasts 5 years and longer in saltwater environments, or go over 15 years of no corrosion when nC® Nano Corrosion Passivation Cold Alloy Paint or SEM Nano Corrosion Passivator Primer are the products of choice.

Application benefit

This without the absolute need for sandblasting or re-application of traditional coating. This makes the execution of corrosion passivation projects fast and cost effective, whilst the results last for very long periods of time.

Particularly, a big advantage of corrosion passivation is that you can apply it on wet surfaces. Consequently, it is also possible to passivate corrosion in for example ballast water tanks, rudders, peaks and other confined areas by means of floating. Of course traditional application, like rolling, brushing or spraying, is very well common use, on wet surfaces in case of the Fluid or Primer is used.
